It was a rainy, gloomy afternoon for the 16th annual Scottdale Fall Festival 5K and 10K, but a nice bunch of mighty souls braved the nasty weather anyway.

If you were one of those determined enough to come out and run in the rain then cash awards were presented to the top three overall male and female participants and the top three male and female finishers in each age group. This was true for both the run and the walk events. If that's not enough, the top 3 male and female in each age group also received trophies. And did we mention you get a technical fabric race T-shirt just for registering?

Keeping a positive attitude
When things got started Ben Bickerton took the race out fast trying to win once again this year in the 5K. He ran uncontested to grab first place at 17:35. Second was Tyler Nelson in 20:55 and third was Coco Molinaro with a 21:12.

On the women's side for the 5K was Riley Beistel for the win in 21:51 with Vayda Farino for second in 22:55 and Kaylee Farino in third with a 27:27.

In the 10K Heath Piper came home with the win on a tough country roads course in 40:04. Second was Chris Graft in 41:57 and third went to Joshua Dawson in 42:29.

Dana Newlin was top female with a 43:01 with Sarah Piper (48:11) and Valerie Farino (51:44) coming in for second and third, respectively.

Despite the rain participants still got to enjoy the festival bands, activities, and great festival food after drying off.
