Snowshoe Mountain Welcomes The Del McCoury Band for Independence Day Weekend Celebration

SNOWSHOE, W.Va.- Snowshoe Mountain is celebrating the nation's birthday with a headlining performance from bluegrass legend Del McCoury, part of the resort's annual Bluegrass Festival, July 1-3, 2011. The Del McCoury Band will perform Saturday, July 2nd on the Skidder Slope Stage.

Saturday Night . Headliner Band & Fireworks

The Saturday night performance will be the only ticketed event of the weekend, with presale tickets available for just $25. Tickets will be available for $35 day-of the show at Snowshoe Mountain.

Following the McCoury Band performance Snowshoe will light up the night with a spectacular mountaintop fireworks display. Great vantage points will be available from across the resort's mountaintop Village.

"We're thrilled to welcome back the Festival's original headlining act," said Events Manager Kathryn Bevan of the band, which helped Snowshoe launch the first Bluegrass Festival in 2008.

"The 4th of July Bluegrass Festival has become a staple of Snowshoe's summer events calendar, but it hasn't been the same without the Del McCoury Band. We know our guests are excited to welcome them back to this amazing performance setting."

Music Friday Thru Sunday

Enjoy other free bluegrass music on the Village Stage on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday during the holiday weekend. Regional favorites including The Black Mountain Bluegrass Boys, The Half Time String Band and The Hillbilly Gypsies will perform.

Racing Action July 2-3 . Powerade Race Series

Top mountain bikers compete on 1,500 vertical feet of decent; amateurs (beginners), weekend warriors (few races under your belt), and elites (pro/experienced) categories available. This is the first race in the series. Participate or just watch the action!
