April Fools Day, 1998, WVOutside.com was officially launched. Thus began a 10 year documentary of sorts. Our first race coverage dates to April 18, 1998, the The Valley Falls Challenge. But documenting outdoor events for WVOutside's founder, Don Parks, seemed only natural.

Back in the day when the internet was new and digital cameras were barely worth using, Don began using the World Wide Web to document events. He began with two of his own adventures, The 1st Annual C&O Canal Fun Run Friday, October 17, 1997, and then continued with the 1997 Winter Hike: I Dream of A White Devil.

WVOutside gave way to a new name, iPlayOutside. The site is now home to thousands of events, past and present. We hope to enjoy many more years of event posting pleasure.

Today we celebrate our anniversary with ten bike crash photos, taken by our photographers over the years.
