White Water Canoe Race - Alderson 4th of July Celebration

Description: This is a timed event on the Rattlesnake Rapids section of the Greenbrier River for a total distance of 7 miles. Start at the Bicentennial Mini Park at Fort Spring and finish at the Alderson Mini Park. This is an open class event for canoes navigated by two individuals.

More Fun: While the canoes are racing down the river, the Alderson Mini Park (canoe race finish) will be holding an assortment of fun races for all your friends and family. These are short, out and back, canoe races for various classes: children, father/son, mother/daughter, husband/wife, six person NO PADDLES, and more!

Times: Registration begins at noon at Fort Spring. Canoe race begins at 1:00pm.

Directions: From Alderson, take 63 East out of town toward Ronceverte. Go roughly 7 miles to your first intersection and take a right. Registration is at the "River's Edge" restaurant and convenience store that will be on your left.


The Alderson 4th of July Celebration spans the entire holiday season from Saturday, June 27 through Sunday July 5 with extensive festivities and events occurring over the holiday weekend.
