20th Annual Mountain State Classic

Distance: 10 Kilometers (6.2 miles)

Entry Fee: $10.00 if postmarked by May 30, 1998. $13.00 late entry fee and day of race registration. The race entry fee is non-refundable.

Race Day Parking: Parking is available around Parkersburg High School in various locations. No parking will be permitted on Washington Avenue or 20th Street leading to the Field House. NOTE THE NO PARKING SIGNS.

Packet Pick-up: Packet pick-up and day of race registration will begin at 6:30AM and run until 7:45AM the day of the race on the terrace of Parkersburg High School.

Weather: Expect temperatures in the mid-60's to mid 80's at race time.

CAUTION: Unregistered runners, unauthorized vehicles, bicycles, skateboards, rollerskates, rollerblades, strollers, baby-joggers, the wearing of headphones and running with dogs are strictly prohibited on the course in order to assure runner safety and to comply with liability insurance requirements.

Restroom and Shower Facilities: Parkersburg High School Field House restrooms will be available. Runners should come dressed and ready to run. Shower privileges after the race.

Awards Ceremony: A complete awards ceremony will take place at Parkersburg High School following the Kids Classic. All trophies are specially designed by Fenton Art Glass Company, Williamstown, WV.

Awards: Overall Awards: Top Ten - 1st-10th place trophies
Top Three Masters: 1st-3rd place trophies
There will be no duplication of awards

Random Drawings: Anyone entered in the 10K will be eligible for random drawings. These drawings will be held during the awards ceremony and prizes are $100.00 (1 winner), $50.00 (4), $25.00 (8). Overall money winners and any Mountain State Blue Cross & Blue Shield employees are not eligible to win any random drawings. You must be present to win.

Picnic: Post-race picnic will be held following the awards ceremony at the large shelter by the pond at City Park. Food and beverages will be served to all runners. Runners must present their race number for free admission. Guests are welcome at $3.00 per person. Children 11 and under are free.

Results: Complete results will be mailed to all finishers and posted after the race.

Course: The 10K starts in front of Parkersburg High School on Washington Avenue. The course is basically a flat and fast loop. Splits for the 10K will be given at every mile and water at the 2.5 and 4 mile points.
