NEW . . . New Section of Single Track Added

The race will start with the expert classes completing a prolog section down the Beaver Creek trail back to the start area. The leading racer can snatch a $30 cash premium sponsored by Custom Contracting. All racers will then race onto the newest section of Big Bear's single track the "Crack Trail". The Crack Tail is about 6 miles long with several rock features and a long flowing down hill. The "Crack" is unmistakable and will challenge your West Virginia mountain bike skills. Beginners will race about 7 miles, Sports will race about 14 miles and experts will race about 20 miles. The course is marked ready for riding.

Race and Ride at Big Bear
The start will no longer be on the road. Races will enter the trail immediately following the start. Race will be a staggered start. Experts at noon, Sport at 12:12, Beginner at 12:35.

Nearly all of the 22 miles of racing is in single/double track. This extremely fast and technical course is full of large embedded rocks, which provide wide grin racing for all skill levels. All expert racers will do a 22 mile loop. Sport racers will do a 14-15 mile loop. Beginner racers will do a shortened loop. Two water stations are provided along the course.

Classes

All WVMBA point classes, All expert classes will receive at least 100% cash payback purse and a $30 season pass to bike Big Bear. Hand thrown pottery prizes will be awarded at least 3 deep depending on class size to all other classes. Showers and bike wash are provided.

The Kid's Race

Will be held at 10:00 Sunday morning just before the adult race. Young racers will be treated to a true "in the woods" kids course. All kid racers will receive medals and a hand dipped ice cream cone from the Big Bear County Store. Having the kid's race on Sunday provides a unique opportunity for the entire family to participate in a mountain bike event. Classes are ages 6 through 12, both girls and boys.

Times

Registration opens at 9 am! Kids race at 10 am, RACE Start Time is 12:00 noon, enjoy Pizza after the race.

Registration begins 9 am inside front entrance, look for signs. Camping on site available. Primitive $5.00 per person, RV and Tent sites $10.00 per person. For rooms contact the Maple Leaf Motel in Bruceton Mills, WV, at 304-379-4075.

Directions

To get to Big Bear Lake take I-68 to the Hazelton Exit (WV exit 29) and go south (left if you are coming on I-68 West, right if you are coming on I-68 East). Follow this road 3 miles to the guard shack at Big Bear Lake.
