We welcome you to the 2nd Annual Capon Valley Run on our wonderful
course of old country dirt roads and woodland trails, which are filled
with natural beauty. Anyone who attends will certainly enjoy our
beautiful scenery and quiet country atmosphere.
The course is hilly, and the footing is generally excellent. There
are a number of stream crossings, and just a few rocky areas. Maps
will be available the day of the event, and the entire trail will be
clearly marked. T-shirts will be available for each participant, and
we will have first man and first woman and first master (55 and over)
awards. Runners' times will be mailed to each runner as soon as
possible after the event.
No one under the age of 18 will be permitted to participate. There is
flat parking for campers and toilet facilities are available at the
start and finish. Lodging is available locally. There will be plenty
of snacks and drinks for the runners at the aid stations
(approximately every 5 miles) and at the finish. There will be a free
homemade barbecued chicken dinner, for each runner after the run, and
additional dinners may be purchased for $7 each. There are 2 country
stores with gas and ice. If you plan to camp, please let us know what
time you will be arriving.
The run will be held rain or shine. NO VEHICLES will be
permitted at the aid stations; however, rides will be
available for spectators to each aid station. There will also
be rides available from the aid stations back to camp for any
runners who are unable to continue. We will carry marked bags
to the aid stations if requested.

DIRECTIONS:
From the intersection of I 66 and I 81: Go north on
I 81 for 10 miles to Route 37 (this is a western by-pass around
Winchester and the sign will also say to 50 West). At the top
of the exit ramp turn left on Route 37. Go to the Route 50
exit and go west (left turn) on Route 50 for 12 miles; then go
south (left turn) on Route 259 ( green highway sign says to
Wardensville) for 10 miles to Yellow Spring. Turn right on
River Road (just past the post office and general store) to the
Ruritan Park on the left (about ¼ mile). There is a sign
for the Ruritan on Route 259, but it is difficult to see after
dark. It is approximately 1 ¾ hours from DC on excellent
roads with beautiful scenery. It would be a good idea to look
at a map.
